Lori Hernandez, founder of Franklin Street Yoga Center, has been a dedicated yoga student since 1997 and a full time teacher since 2005.

Her teachers include Kaya Mindlin, Shiva Rea, Michael Johnson, and Baron Baptiste. Her teachers are the foundation of all she has to offer and she is a humble and grateful student. The Krishnamacharya lineage including both Ashtanga and Iyengar methods have supported her teaching for all of these years.

Committed to empowering others, she inspires softness and strength with her intuitive teaching. Lori is known for combining creative vinyasa sequences with healthy alignment, great music, and lots of heart.

She opened Franklin Street Yoga Center in 2007 and her teacher training graduates have gone on to teach and open studios around the nation and world.

She has been a presenter at the National Graves Disease Conference, Texas Yoga Conference, Asheville Yoga Festival, LeaderShape, NC Public Relations Society Chapter, and NAWBO and she is an end of life doula. In addition to private clients, Lori has worked with the UNC Volleyball, Field Hockey, Women’s Lacrosse, Football, Fencing and the Men’s Golf Team.

Lori was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease in 2005 and Type 1 Diabetes in 2014. Her yoga practice has made a considerable difference in dealing with the stress of having her body fight against itself and the daily challenges of living with two autoimmune diseases.
