LEARN MORE ABOUT ANNIE
Annie’s devotion to yoga began in 2014 after the birth of her fifth child when, following her first class at FSYC, she (almost immediately) developed a daily practice. She has found her mat – and the surrounding community – to be a welcome refuge as well as a potent space for growth, connectedness and joy. A former gymnast, she is particularly comfortable upside-down, but deeply values the corrective yoga has offered as an opportunity for responsive embodiment and tenderness to self and others. Inspired to deepen and share her practice, in 2024 she completed 200-hour teacher training with Lori Hernandez at FSYC. Drawn in particular to the power of stillness (in her often un-still life!) she is also a student of Sarah Powers at the Insight Yoga Institute toward her 500+ hour teacher training and IYI certification. She is a professor at the UNC School of Medicine and is excited to expand her teaching repertoire to yoga and its many offerings for students at every stage. She feels lucky to live with her family and be able to walk in downtown Chapel Hill, especially and often to FSYC.
